Local author and illustrator Lisa Loucks-Christenson has released the cover for her upcoming suspense series Season One, Episode One: Wakefield, Minnesota, introducing a mysterious new world set along the Mississippi River in an invented industrial town.
At the center of the story is Sheila, a woman whose life is devoted to natural history—until her home becomes a trap. Her sanctuary is a house with a path to a nature preserve, but that quiet route ends when she finds herself caught between stalkers, and the work she has built her life around begins to unravel.
The cover’s imagery heightens the tension. It blends Loucks-Christenson’s original photograph of a spider web in the foreground with a blurred image of a house in the background. Digital illustration details—featuring the detective Tate Shepherd, Sheila, and a spider—were added by the author, all drawn from her imagination.
