Rochester, MN – February 17, 2026 – I'm thrilled to announce my major 2026-2027 project: Oak Savanna Winds: Blue Lupine, filmed on the Laurie (Loucks) Burt Wildlife Sanctuary—my private, National Wildlife Federation-certified haven in Olmsted County, Minnesota. Named for my sister Laurie Sue Burt (d. 2011), this oak savanna is a living tribute to our shared love of owls, foxes, tiger swallowtails, and wild places.
This documentary/book chronicles our habitat expansion: blue lupine for endangered Karner blues (first spotted 2025), plus tiger swallowtails, skippers, silk moths, sphinx moths, mourning cloaks, fritillaries. Over 50 tagged oaks (white, burr, swamp white) shelter hawks, owls, eagles, woodland creatures, and millions of insects, dragonflies, damselflies—inspiring my Hallowink Hollow™ series (25+ books), Courtly Cottontails, Toads of Telemark™, Starlingo™ comics.
Two Certified Habitats, Three Ponds
Deck Pond and Pool Pond already teem with life. New for 2026: Willow Pond, filling the empty scar from forced pet exhumations due to court fraud. Under Laurie's memorial willow—roots severed to reclaim them—this reflective pond transforms grief into grace.
Self-funded by Loucks-Christenson Publishing bestsellers (Wolves of Whitewater Falls™, Bow Wow Detectives™, Don't Eat Bees!), it proves small changes ripple to feed thousands. Filmed for the launching Wildly Personable Show™ (Vol. 2 underway).
