Sometimes I stand in my woods and imagine another chapter.
This spot, in Rochester, Minnesota is already part of an upcoming episode of Wakefield.
In the background of my outro clip, you can see what looks like a man leaning on a tree—on my land, without permission. I called it in on 7/29/2026, but the dispatcher dismissed it as “imagination.” The blurred photo I’m sharing here is from that same timeframe.
I’m posting this not to inflame, but to document:
-
What it looks like when someone is standing, illegally, on private property in the Rochester area
-
How easily those moments get minimized or ignored
-
Why landowners—especially those who work alone in the city, semi-rural and rural Olmsted County—need to be vigilant about boundaries, evidence, and their rights under Minnesota.
Recent local reporting shows trespassing is a real and growing issue across Minnesota, from urban exploring in Minneapolis to break-ins and trespass warnings in Rochester itself. This isn’t abstract; it’s part of the environment we’re living in right now.
This is also part of my ongoing investigative and documentary work around property rights, trespassing, and how these incidents are handled (or not) by local systems. It’s a real-life scene that will appear, in some form, in Wakefield.
If you’re a landowner, filmmaker, journalist, or Rochester-area resident who’s dealt with similar situations, I’d be interested in how you documented it and what responses you got from authorities.
